Phoenix Contact launches PLCnext safety controller

The Phoenix PLCnext Control RFC 4072S controller is the first high-performance controller for the PLCnext Technology ecosystem. It can be used to leverage all the advantages of the control platform: programming in your favourite programming language and programming environment, using open source software, apps, Proficloud and soon, the real-time version of the PLCnext store.

In addition to a high-performance Intel i5 dual-core processor, the controller also includes 4GB RAM. The safety-relevant calculations are performed by two independent CPUs that are based on different architectures. Therefore, it is suitable for applications with high safety requirements in accordance with SIL 3 or PLe.

The safety-oriented controller uses the current Profisafe profile 2.61 for Profinet and Profisafe systems. In the Profisafe network, it performs the function of an F-Host and can put up to 300 lower-level F-Devices into operation. Standard and safety programming has been combined with PLCnext Engineer software to create a single engineering tool.
