Pilz rolls out new logo

Pilz introduced its new logo at the Hannover Messe (in Germany) in April 2015 and is now using it on more promotional material - see, for example, the advertisements here on MachineBuilding.net.

With its new logo, Pilz says it is aiming to 'underline visually its positioning as a supplier of complete solutions for safety and automation.'

Renate Pilz, Chair of the Board of Pilz GmbH & Co KG, stated at the Hannover Messe: "Pilz is a strong industry brand. It stands for innovation, customer orientation and complete automation solutions. We are successful as ambassadors for safety - but Pilz's roots are in automation technology! The new logo is intended to visualise: We offer complete automation solutions with the core competency of safety."

The new logo is replacing the existing signet after 26 years. It assumes some traditional design elements from the 1960s and 1970s, such as capital letters. That was the time when Pilz in Germany launched the first freely programmable control system, the PC4K. This was followed at the end of the 1970s by the PITRONIK P8, one of Germany's first ever programmable logic controller (PLC) products.

Then in 1987 Pilz ushered in the era of safe automation technology at Pilz with the PNOZ safety relays (PNOZ is a German acronym for Pilz E-stop, positive-guided).

Today, safety and automation functions at Pilz are merging into one: 'All in One'. An example of this is the PSS 4000 automation system. This offers a decentralised control system with a centralised view, which meets the requirements for Industry 4.0.
