Pilz Safety Compendium - second edition published
Pilz has published a second edition of the Pilz Safety Compendium (7.17MB PDF). The first edition proved very popular, and the second edition adds more information and brings standards references up to date. For example, since the first edition of the Safety Compendium was published, EN ISO 12100-1, Safety of machinery. Basic concepts, general principles for design. Substantive new additions to the 298-page Pilz Safety Compendium include:
- Information about fault masking in the guarding section
- Completely new sections covering the safe use of pneumatics and hydraulics
- Examples of safe motion
Written by a committee of experts drawn from Pilz, Festo, academia and international lawyers specialising in product safety and liability, the compendium is intended to be an authoritative work on the subject of functional safety within the context of machinery. As well as addressing issues pertinent to the European market, the Safety Compendium also looks at directives and laws in America, Asia and Oceania.
The Pilz Safety Compendium is a substantial work, available as a free download, that covers the subject of machinery safety - and functional safety in particular - to a level that will be suitable for most machine builders and system integrators.
