Plastic Micro-Latch connectors conform to MIL-DTL 83513

Omnetics is now supplying a full range of Micro-Latch connectors featuring contacts that have been tested to and pass requirements as laid down by MIL-DTL 83513 - yet the connectors are smaller and lighter than others. Featuring housings made of high-temperature liquid crystal polymer, the devices save space and weight in critical applications including military and defence, medical and oil and gas.

Gary Evans, European Sales Manager, comments: "Our Micro-Latch connectors deliver the same performance as metal-shelled micro D types, but are 25 per cent smaller and weigh on average 35 per cent less than a standard equivalent micro D."

Micro-Latch 83513-style connectors feature secure quick-snap latching, ensuring a reliable connection. They are optionally available as blind mate devices for use in extremely confined spaces, as, for example, in Flir radar systems installed in Eurofighter designs, leading NATO helicopters, guidance systems for anti-mine weapons and even flown to Mars aboard NASA programmes.

Versatility is provided via a number of customer-specified options. In addition, space restrictions and difficult access issues are overcome by guide posts that facilitate 'blind mating' and also ensure that no misalignment is possible.
