Pilz says its PNOZmulti 2 compact configurable controllers can now communicate with SafetyNET p via safe real-time Ethernet for safety-related control systems up to safety level PL e / SIL 3. A maximum of 16 base units can be linked in a linear topology using the new PNOZ m EF SafetyNET expansion modules. This means the compact controllers can be safely linked for transferring safety-related data. Furthermore, PNOZmulti and PNOZmulti Mini systems can also be incorporated within the network using multi-link modules. The network is configured with the easy-to-use PNOZmulti Network Editor software tool.
Fast data transfer is assured thanks to a clearly structured data interface utilising 128-bit inputs and 32-bit outputs. The 32-bit data is exchanged via an RTFL interface, which enables short cycle times and easy, safe networking of modular plants.
PNOZmulti 2 systems can incorporate PNOZ m BO or PNOZ B1 base units; only one PNOZ m EF SafetyNET safe expansion module can be used with each base unit, but the base units can be freely combined.
Not only do the resultant PNOZmulti 2 systems benefit from a clear structure, but few interface modules are required and larger plants can also be implemented quickly and easily. Existing plant sections can now be expanded quickly to benefit from a SafetyNET network.
Using the PNOZmulti Network Editor, which is run from within the PNOZmulti Configurator, all data can be simply networked: the PNOZmulti Network Editor can be used to both configure a SafetyNET p network and to link the project. Once uploaded into the PNOZmulti systems, the SafetyNET p network is ready for use.
