Portescap Ultra EC high-torque, high speed mini-motors at SPS
For design engineers operating within the automation and robotics industries, SPS is an annual highlight that showcases the latest product developments and technological advancements. Portescap will be using this year's show to demonstrate the characteristics of its Ultra EC range of miniature motors. With a patented "U coil' design, the new motor range delivers unprecedented speed and torque in a compact package.
The operating profile of automated and hand-held assembly tools are quite different from many other motor-driven applications. They will typically require very precise speed and torque outputs combined with a lightweight and compact footprint. For precision applications, such as "pick & place' machines or robots charged with materials handling duties, design engineers need to specify motors that will drive performance.
To answer the demands of the automation industry, Portescap will be featuring its Ultra EC range of brushless slotless motors. Featuring a patented "U coil' design that maximises the effects of the magnetic field, the Ultra EC range is more efficient and, therefore, able to deliver up to 30 per cent improvements in torque and speed compared with other motors of the same size. Depending on the application requirements, the Ultra EC range is available in three configurations: ECS Line for high speed (up to 70,000rpm) and responsiveness; ECP Line for an efficient balance of speed and torque; and ECT for ultra-high torque (up to 225mNm) in the smallest package.
