Positioning systems: one platform for all applications

Aerotech releases Version 1.2 of Automation1 control platform

A new release of the Aerotech Automation1 control platform has been available for users since February. Now Version 1.2 offers numerous functional enhancements, it is reported, and is automatically included when ordering the Automation1 standard version.

At the heart of the new platform is the integrative portal control scheme. ETM modules and other new drive hardware can now also be integrated into the processes.

"Automation1 operates as a complete machine control system with all components and thus offers much more than a mere ‘motion control’," says Simon Smith, European director of Aerotech.

The platform has its own software-based motion controller, which is said to make it easy to control different positioning systems, as well as connected components. Areas of application include automation systems, precision laser processes, and test and inspection processes.

"Our solution offering grows along with our customers' requirements, which is why we have also placed great emphasis on their feedback during the further development of Automation1", Smith continues. "With Release 1.2, we were able to implement some important technological innovations that make the platform as a whole even more integrated and powerful."

The Automation1 hardware has a built-in digital and analogue I/O, allowing an easy integration of complex motion and the associated control of process tools.
