Precision drive systems at Engineering Design Show

maxon UK and Ireland is exhibiting at the Engineering Design Show from 9-10 October at the Coventry Building Society Arena to guide design engineers focused on mechanical, electronic and embedded design in DC motor technology selection.

maxon's engineers will present DC and brushless DC (BLDC) motors, as well as gearheads, encoders, and motor controls. The company is also displaying complete, precision drive systems, and will discuss custom design and development.

maxon brand Parvalux, which designs higher powered motors including geared motors, will also join maxon on Stand G55. Greg Dutfield, the UK head of maxon's Industrial and Mobility business unit, will lead maxon's attendance at the exhibition, alongside Ben Smith, UK Sales Manager for maxon brand, Parvalux.

The maxon team will present an interesting look at the diverse array of applications where precision drive systems and motors are deployed. This ranges from aerospace and space projects, such as NASA's space missions, as well as mobility applications which include the automotive sector and unguided autonomous vehicles. maxon's expertise also includes the medical sector, including surgical robots and prosthetics, as well as industrial automation, from lab automation through to semiconductor fabrication.

maxon achieves precision control for compact drive systems, such as powering robotic limbs, while Parvalux motors are suitable to drive higher power applications, such as automated door control or leisure equipment such as automated caravan movers.

"The Engineering Design Show attracts engineers from a diverse range of sectors, but a commonality is that drive systems based on electric motor technology are crucial to power and control virtually all applications that require motion," explains Greg Dutfield. "We're attending the show to help guide design engineers in their selection of the right motor technology to optimise their applications. As well as discussing technology types, sizing, and materials, we'll also be explaining the advantages of custom development, which covers up to around 80% of maxon's projects worldwide."
