An Awards Evening was held at Cardiff and Vale College on 2 November 2017 to celebrate the successes and achievements of exceptional learners who have shown outstanding commitment, passion and drive to develop their skills and make a real difference to their organisation.

Reg Hughes, an Engineering Tutor at ACT Training, states: "Ryan is a skilful, competent and now a very confident young engineer."

John Procter, Director of Procter Machine Safety, adds: "Ryan is the first apprentice at Procter who has worked on the CNC Pulmax section, the guard assembly section and the welding and fabrication section. In fact, Ryan was so good after training in these specific areas that the line managers were reluctant to let him move on!"

Procter Machine Safety is very proud of Ryan's success; he - and indeed all the ACT Award winners - have gone 'above and beyond' in their apprenticeship qualifications and the awards were an excellent opportunity to recognise their achievements.

Rob Williams, HR Manager, comments: "Ryan's outstanding achievement should be an inspiration to all staff who are currently studying a work-based learning course at Procter Bros with ACT Learning and I hope that all learners will strive to emulate Ryan's success going forward."

Speaking about his apprenticeship, Ryan says: "I have always been interested in how things work and making things, so for me an engineering apprenticeship, where I could learn on the job, was a great option.

"My apprenticeship at Procter Machine Guarding has been varied, including learning how to work a CNC machine, how to assemble our machine guarding products and how to weld. These skills give me a great base to develop my career in engineering. It's amazing to be part of a business that is helping keep people safe. I would encourage anyone interested in engineering to start with an apprenticeship at a great company that you believe in."
