Profibus and Profinet in process training seminar

Organised by Profibus & Profinet International UK (PI UK), this free-to-attend training event will be covering many of the key issues involved in the use of advanced network communications in Process and Hybrid Industry applications. Covering the use of Profinet, Profibus and IIoT in key application areas such as Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Utilities, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas today, it focuses on the practical aspects of using Profibus in process industry applications from system design and hazardous area considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.

Profibus and Profinet in process training seminar

Among the subjects to be covered will be System Design for the Process Industry. Presented by PI UK's Technical Officer, Andy Verwer, the presentation will examine the main considerations to be taken into account when designing networks that are used in process automation and control. It will examine the main requirements for the process industry and will then go on to see how these can be met with Profibus and Profinet technology. The presentation will look at the basic principles of control system reliability and show how this is influenced by network layout and design. Aspects such as redundancy, simple device replacement without reconfiguration and health checking and performance monitoring will be covered.

Another of Andy's presentations will address device commissioning, maintenance, calibration and monitoring and will introduce the concept of profiles and in particular the PA profile, which is mandatory for all Profibus PA devices. The presentation will briefly explain the structure of the PA profile and show the benefits that this can bring when working with extensive and complex plants. The presentation will include a practical demonstration showing manufacturer-independent remote device access for device commissioning, maintenance and calibration.

With 50 per cent of the seminar time dedicated to live demonstrations and most of the remainder taken up with practical advice based on actual experience, the programme will be of value to Instrument Technicians/Engineers, C&I Engineers and System Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern process plant.

Attendance is free of charge to pre-registered delegates from the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain process plant. The event will provide delegates with an excellent networking opportunity and the ability to speak to our experts whom, we promise, will not force you to buy anything.

Subjects covered include:

  • Introduction to the basics of Profibus and Profinet
  • Profinet in Process
  • System design for the Process Industry
  • Functional Safety in Profibus and Profinet
  • Profibus DP & PA - Commisioning/Maintenance/Calibration/Monitoring
  • Device configuration - EDDL & FDT/DTM
