Provertha I-Net Profibus connectors use M12 connections

Now available in the UK from Contour Electronics are new Profibus plug-and-play bus connectors with two M12 connector interfaces.

Modern fieldbus connections have to be easy to implement and reliable. Provertha's I-Net Profibus product series provides a plug-and-play Profibus bus connector that fulfils these needs and addresses a broad range of applications in industrial communications and automation.

Profibus devices with D-Sub interfaces have to ensure an easy, fail-safe connection and fault-free data transmission, as a faulty Profibus connector can result in downtime for process and automation lines. Fault-free operation is ensured by the use of fully-tested bus connectors and cable assemblies instead of the time-consuming cable preparation and cable shield assembly with the possibility that failures can occur, especially on the cable shield termination. A die-cast metal hood ensures effective shielding and high robustness in harsh industrial environments.

The Profibus M12 connectors come with the standardised B-coding. With integrated inductances, they fulfil the Profibus specification for data rates up to 12Mbit/s. An external switch can be used to activate the termination resistors for the bus termination. The connectors are available with or without PG interface with a second D-sub connector for programming or service purposes.
