The ARO Fluid Technologies business of Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies is releasing what is claimed to be the world's first UV ink pump. As UV inks crystallize very easily due to their chemistry, efficient UV ink transfer has been very difficult using conventional pumping technologies, hence formulation and transfer had to be performed manually.
However, after years of field tests and product development, Ingersoll Rand has successfully produced a piston-type pump that is designed specifically to minimise shear and thermal energy. The pump therefore drastically reduces operating costs in the chemical processing, printing and packaging industries, while allowing for the automation of medium- to high-viscosity UV ink and liquid transfers.
