Category 4 interface unveiled for use with safety light curtains
Norstat now offers a category 4 interface for use with safety light curtains in applications where personal protection is paramount, such as robotic cells for welding, machining, assembly, wrapping or palletising.
The AD SR1 is a Type 4 Safety interface for light curtains that comes standard with self-testing, solid state safety outputs, selectable external relay control feedback input, manual or automatic reset modes and a quick mounting DIN rail fastening system for easy installation.
“The AD SR1 is designed as an interface module that operates between the safety light curtain and the machine control circuits. With its compact, yet robust, design the AD SR1 conforms to safety level Type 4, SIL 3, SILCL3, PL e as well as Cat. 4 ,” says Norstat.
The AD SR1 is available with 2 NO–2A 250 Vac safety relay outputs, contact guided safety relays, start/restart interlock (selectable on the terminal block) and an EDM feedback input for external contactors monitoring.
The AD SR1 utilises LEDs to display input/output status, as well as diagnosis. These interfaces carry a protection rating of IP 20 for the housing, IP 2x for the terminal blocks and can operate in temperatures ranging from 0° C to +55° C.
