Reekie Steeltec makes major re-investment in ESAB
To meet growing demand for its metal fabrication services, Reekie Steeltec of Arbroath in Angus has invested in eight new ESAB Origo Mig 4004i multi-process inverter-based welding packages designed for high-productivity applications. The company has also purchased Origo Feed 3004 MA24 wire feed units and interconnecting cables. This is part of a half million pound investment that also includes an automated shotblaster and heat treatment oven.
Part of the Reekie Engineering Group, Reekie Steeltec is currently enjoying particular success with customers in the offshore/onshore oil and gas industry. Investment in the new welding equipment has been made largely on the strength of this activity although the company also undertakes fabrications for customers in markets as diverse as agriculture, automotive, food production and signage.
Reekie Steeltec is an established user of ESAB welding equipment and has always been impressed by the reliability of the products, simplicity of use and overall high performance. The introduction of the new Origo Mig 4004i in early 2012 was ideal for Reekie, who were able to invest in the very latest Origo power source, offering high duty cycles and suitable for the mild and stainless steel welding typically being undertaken. The compact design and transportability of the unit were also important.
