Right-angle AC gearmotors replace von Weise units

A new right-angle AC gearmotor available in six standard models is the latest addition to the Von Weise drop-in replacement (VWDIR) gearmotor range from Bison Gear & Engineering. The new VWDIR33 AC right-angle gearmotors feature 1/12 horsepower (62W) dual voltage (115/230V), dual frequency (60/50Hz) single-phase permanent split capacitor electric motors. The compact, integral gear reducers utilise hardened steel worm gearing and cast iron output gears, with ratios ranging from 37:1 to 1205:1. Corresponding fixed output speeds are from 40 to 1.5rpm, with continuous torque ratings from 89 to 250in-lbs (10.1 to 28.3Nm). The gearmotors are available with left, right or dual output shafts, are reversible and feature all-position foot mounting with a 100lb (45.4kg) overhung load capability.

John Morehead, Vice President of Strategic Planning & Marketing for Bison Gear, says: "This is the tenth new Von Weise drop-in replacement gearmotor we have introduced in the past three months and there are more to come. We are finding that OEM customers for these products are particularly interested in shortening their supply chain with dependable deliveries of a quality product. We are able to meet those requirements by manufacturing these gearmotors here in our St Charles, Illinois facility to Bison's high quality standards to ensure reliable, long-life operation."

Designed for commercial and industrial applications ranging from food service equipment to welding positioners, the new VWDIR33 AC right-angle gearmotors are available with UL and CSA recognition as standard. CE recognition can be provided for OEMs, and Bison Gear's Innopreneurial application and design engineering capabilities can customise standard models to meet specific OEM needs.

Bison's VWDIR line now includes right-angle, parallel shaft and offset parallel shaft designs utilising AC, DC and universal motors from 1/30 to 1/2 horsepower (25-373W), with fixed output speeds from 1.5 to 181rpm and continuous torque ratings up to 800in-lbs (90.4Nm).
