Harting's RJ Industrial EtherRail RJ45 connector is described as the first RJ45 connector on the market specifically designed for the field assembly of fire-resistant data cables in rail applications. The connector is designed for connecting wires with an external diameter of up to 2mm and cables with diameters up to 9mm, and is therefore well suited to the connection of 4-core Ha-VIS EtherRail cable in screened star quad configurations.
The 4-pole RJ45 connector is equipped with insulation displacement technology, and can be used with EtherRail(R) 4 × AWG22/7 cable for laying in and on rail vehicles and buses, as well as the ultra-flexible 4 × AWG22/19 cable which is mainly used as a linking connection between vehicles while also finding use for installations within rail vehicles and buses.
Harting's Ha-VIS EtherRail cables fulfil the fire-protection regulations for rail vehicles and buses, and are suitable for applications involving extreme temperature requirements from -40degC to +85degC. The design and construction of the cables, including the materials used and the processing technology (including irradiation crosslinking) meet the requirements of the EN 45545 European standard for rail applications and also pass the comprehensive fire tests in accordance with DIN5510, UL1685, as well as many other national and international requirements.
The robust star quad design guarantees reliable data transfer up to 100 MBit/s. In connection with the new Harting RJ Industrial EtherRail RJ45 connector, it is now possible to implement highly robust RJ45 data cabling in trains, trams and buses.
