elobau is promoting its range of safety interlocks for machine guarding applications. These protect personnel by monitoring and interrupting the safety circuit when a guard door is opened. Furthermore, models with an integral locking solenoid also hold the guard closed until a stored energy hazard has dissipated. The interlocks can also prevent damage to the machine or workpiece due to an unintentional shutdown. To meet current worldwide standards, the safety interlock components cannot be easily bypassed. These switches have positive opening contacts and redundancy to guarantee that they fail to a safe state.
The interlocks have a locking force of up to 2500N. Other features include: solenoid locking; narrow metal body housings and metal actuating heads; rotatable actuator heads with top and side entry; an actuator insertion funnel that increases entry area; and straight, bent and hinged actuators (including over-travel). Typical configuration is four contacts: 2 NC (normally-closed) positively driven safety contacts, switch status contacts and door and solenoid monitoring contacts. Versions with LED's are also available.
elobau's interlocks are made with a robust die-cast aluminium actuator head and housing and carry an IP67 environmental protection (oil and dust tight and water resistant). The operating temperature range is -20 to +55degC. The four contact elements are low current rated, silver alloy and gold flashed. The voltage ratings available are 24V AC/DC, 110V AC and 220V AC.
