Phoenix Contact is expanding its product portfolio for Industrial Ethernet to address power distribution applications: Designed with a robust metal housing, the new FL MC 2000E LC glass-fibre media converter meets demanding environmental requirements. The high EMC compatibility makes it possible to use the component in switching systems that require permits for IEC 61850-3 or IEEE 1613.
The device is fitted with redundant contacts for voltage supply of 24 and 48V DC. The extended temperature range of -40 to +75degC allows for implementation in a broad range of applications. Data transmission via fibre-optic cables optimises Ethernet applications in terms of performance and transmission security. Distances above 9km can be covered by using multimode fibre optic cables. In addition to numerous LEDs for diagnostic purposes, the media converter includes the LFP function (Link Fault Pass-Through). It ensures permanent and comprehensive monitoring of the connection. The Pass-Through Ethernet operation mode also makes for very short delay times of 700ns. This means that the media converter is suitable for use in time-critical applications, such as Profinet, Powerlink, or Sercos III.
