RS Components expands Siemens stocked offer in Europe

The new CP 1242-7 communications processor is a key addition to the automation and control range from RS, the company's primary technology focus in the maintenance sector. The module connects the S7-1200 PLC to the GSM/GPRS mobile wireless network, turning the controller into a telecontrol substation. This enables the centralised management of remote automation systems in numerous applications across the industrial, engineering and utilities sectors, reducing maintenance and travel costs and negating high network infrastructure costs.

An expanded industrial communications offer from Siemens also includes new additions to the SCALANCE X unmanaged switches product range. These Industrial Ethernet switches and media converters are the low-cost option for setting up Industrial Ethernet topologies, making them suitable for implementing machine networking with different transmission media at a reduced rate.
