RS Components now shipping ultra-compact industrial slide
RS Components is now supplying a highly integrated slide for industrial automation applications that is claimed to be the most compact available on the market today. Manufactured by Festo, the new DGST mini slide integrates a slide and yoke plate into a single component, ensuring very high rigidity and outstanding precision and angular alignment. The slide also has integrated room for proximity sensors, so there are no projecting parts. This level of compactness enables the device to be highly space saving in a range of industrial machinery and processes.
Targeted for use by machine builders in industrial or factory automation applications, such as pick-and-place machines or manufacturing systems and processes that require precise positioning, the slide features a simple design with symmetrical mounting interfaces and a precise and resilient roller bearing guide.
Other key features of the slide include its ability to handle high feed forces and to operate without having to use additional cushioning components. In fact, the device offers a choice of three cushioning types: elastic cushioning at both ends - with (P model) or without (E1 model) end-position adjustment - or shock absorbers at both ends (Y12 model), which are self-adjusting and offer end-position adjustment. In addition, precision end-position is made easy for users with adjustment made possible from one side. Further features include a backlash-free piston rod/yoke connection, which delivers a longer service life.
Available in six assembly drive sizes - from 6 to 20 - the new Festo DGST mini slide is shipping now from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
