Ruggedised PDA features 400MHz processor and GPS

GETAC is launching the GETAC PS535E fully-rugged GPS PDA, a versatile rugged mobile device. This GPS navigation and positioning device measures 144.25 x 82.25 x 29.3mm and weighs 300g. It is supplied as standard with a 400MHz processor, 64MB flash memory and 2GB embedded memory storage that can be easily upgraded to 6GB for GIS applications.

Suitable for engineering and construction, land surveying, public safety, field service, utilities, military, mapping and other outdoor or service-related fields, the PS535E is capable of handling advanced and powerful applications within these sectors and features Windows Mobile 5 as standard.

The PS535E is also supplied with integrated Bluetooth Technology and 802.11b/g WiFi capability as standard. It has an embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver that helps to easily collect, save and transmit data while in the field and provides fast and accurate positioning data for navigation.

Specific field applications such as secure digital I/O slots are also available as configurable upgrades to provide additional devices such as memory and RFID.

Sunlight-readable technology

The battery performance is excellent, with a rechargeable Li-ION battery providing eight hours or more of active use for all-day power. The PS535E also features a sunlight-readable QVGA touch-screen display. Sunlight-readable technology intensifies an LCD's visibility to make the display usable under intensely bright outdoor conditions. The PS535E's sharp, clear and bright screen displays detailed maps and graphic intensive files in great detail.

Working in the field can present a number of obstacles that can interrupt working on mobile computing devices. The PS535E has been designed to overcome such obstacles to ensure continuous use and eliminate unnecessary down times. It features a magnesium alloy structure design with a hand strap for convenient transport and a screen cover to protect the unit from knocks. To meet the MIL-STD-810F and IP54 requirements, the PS535E is resistant to heavy rain, dust, debris and to accidental drops. The unit is protected so that valuable data and time are never lost, which lowers the failure rate of the hardware as well as the overall cost of ownership.
