SafeLink modules make PNOZmulti safe controller more expandable

Pilz is launching two new SafeLink modules for use with its PNOZmulti 2 software-configurable safety controller. The Multi Link Module enables Multi 2 base units to be safely linked and share 32 safety virtual I/O, while the PDP Link Module connects a maximum of 64 dual-channel remote safety inputs via the Pilz PDP67 active decentralised periphery modules. Together, these new products make the PNOZmulti 2 even more expandable than it already was.

PNOZmulti 2 safety controllers are extremely versatile, and now the PDP Link Modules make them even more so thanks to the ability to mount decentralised safety I/O modules directly on a machine, with the IP67 protection meaning that in most cases there is no need to install the modules in bulky and costly enclosures.

Furthermore, with the Multi Link Modules it is now possible to exchange data safely between multiple PNOZmulti 2 base units. Many machine builders and system integrators will see the main benefit of this being that individual sections of a machine or plant can more easily be shut down selectively for commissioning, changeovers, troubleshooting or maintenance.

As with other products within the PNOZmulti software-configurable controller portfolio, the modules are configured simply by means of the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool, so there is less planning and design effort required than with some other safety systems.

Another advantage offered by the Pilz PNOZmulti 2 base units is that, compared with some alternative products, Pilz claims the energy consumption is 80 per cent lower.
