Satech BlueGuard stainless steel perimeter guarding from Procter
Procter Machine Safety is launching Satech BlueGuard, a stainless steel modular perimeter guarding system that is designed specifically for the needs of hygienic environments such as those in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The company says that the key features of the ECOLAB-certified Satech BlueGuard perimeter fencing system are inspectable U-section posts with Tig-welded raised baseplates, frameless infill panels of 4mm diameter welded wire mesh, and specially designed two-part clamps made of stainless steel and blue "food contact' approved technopolymer. Posts and panels are made from AISI 304 grade stainless steel with a passivated finish. Formed ridges in the mesh panels provide high rigidity, while detailed design features ensure the panels, posts, baseplates and panel clamps are easy to clean.
When installed in compliance with BS EN ISO 13857 (Safety of machinery. Safety distances to prevent hazard zones being reached by upper and lower limbs) the 140mm ground clearance and 28mm × 64mm mesh aperture size means that the fencing can be as close as 200mm to danger zones, so the guarding system minimises the amount of floorspace needed. The installed height of the panels is 2220mm to prevent people reaching over.
Satech BlueGuard has been designed to provide the necessary level of safety while being robust and easy to clean says Procter. In addition, it is said to be quick to install and adjust thanks to the two-component panel clamps with captive fasteners. If need be, the frameless panels can be cut to size on site quickly and easily. To complement the panels and posts, the Satech BlueGuard range also includes a choice of standard hinged and sliding doors. Other accessories are floor bracing, a variable angle kit for mounting panels at angles other than 90 degrees, and brackets for mounting door interlock switches.
Where it is not possible to create the ideal configuration around a machine or process using standard posts, panels and doors, Procter Machine Safety can design and manufacture standards-compliant bespoke components. Satech BlueGuard is available on a supply-only basis or, alternatively, Procter Machine Safety offers a complete turnkey service that covers site surveys, machine risk assessments (or PUWER inspections), design, supply and installation, including integration of electrical components within safety-related control system. Where appropriate, the machine guards are supplied with a Declaration of Conformity and are CE Marked in accordance with the European Machinery Directive.
