SCADA developer celebrates 25th birthday with new innovation

Progea, an innovator in software for industrial supervisory control and visualisation, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding. The company has used the occasion to mark the release of NExT, a completely new SCADA product designed from a clean sheet to address the needs of SCADA applications of the next generation.

Headquartered in Modena, Italy and with operations across Europe and North America, Progea's software has been installed in over 100,000 applications worldwide. As well as industrial automation and visualisation it offers products for remote control, data acquisition, data analysis and system management. It is represented in the UK by Products4Automation.

Paul Hurst, managing director of Products4Automation, says: "Progea is a committed innovator, so there has always been an exciting and dynamic drive behind the development of its products. It is consistently at the forefront of technical advances in SCADA and HMI software. The timing of NExT is significant, as it's the biggest change in the way SCADA software is structured and consequentially its functionality, in the last 25 years."

According to Progea, innovation and flexibility are such crucial elements to the automation sector that it has developed an all-in-one integrated control environment that can be used for any type of automation project. Its Movicon software is in fact an automation platform that can quickly and simply create a supervisory system for any automation application, industrial or otherwise.

Paul enthuses: "Movicon applications can be created for absolutely everything, whether it be for big redundant architectures in process control, small HMI applications, or modular intelligent plant solutions, IIoT (industrial internet of things) connectivity, historian and data logging or even augmented reality."

The most recent example of Progea's ability to foresee and meet future requires, trends and developments in technology is its new Automation Platform.NExT. This is a plug-in modular platform designed to provide the scalability needed for the long term development of automation systems relating to Industry 4.0.

Over its 25-year company history Progea has constantly increased yearly turnover and profit. This has been achieved by investing in marketing whilst simultaneously maintaining its commitment to research and development. It has established a stronghold in international markets and is continuing to expand around the world.

Today the Progea group has Italian offices in Modena, Milan and Vicenza, plus others in Germany, Switzerland and the USA from where its international distribution is coordinated. It also has a network of national agencies and distributors and has built up international partnerships with major companies such as Phoenix Contact, ABB, Panasonic, VIPA, Sütron, Forbes Marshall, Bosch Rexroth, Stahl and others.

Hurst again: "In the automation software world innovation by itself is not enough, as Progea understands. Product quality, customer support and services are equally important and Progea makes them a fundamental part of its offering.

"Successful SCADA and automation projects are achieved by considering not only current system requirements, but also future ones. Progea has proven its ability to look into the medium and long-term future and develop technologies for needs that will emerge over time."
