See energy-saving kits and resources at The Energy Event

With its continuing commitment to helping businesses keep energy and production costs down, Atlas Copco Compressors will be presenting its new retrofit energy recovery kits on stand 138 at The Energy Event 2010 (National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, 8/9 September). These retrofit kits make it possible to recover up to 94 per cent of a rotary screw compressor's heat energy, which can then be transformed into heating or hot water without any additional inputs. Also on the stand will be Atlas Copco's Connectivity and Optimisation products such as the ES130V master controller, which can intelligently control up to 30 compressors to ensure optimum energy efficiency by selecting the most suitable machines to use.

Visitors to the Atlas Copco stand will also learn about its Carbon Zero range of air compressors. These are supplied with integral heat recovery systems and are capable of recovering 100 per cent of electrical energy input. The Carbon Zero innovation provides effective heat transfer within specific design conditions so that a considerable proportion of electrical power input can be recovered in the form of hot water at 90degC. The breakthrough has been made possible by a combination of technological advances in high-efficiency components, heat exchangers, compressor elements and integrated variable-speed drives.

Other energy-efficient products and systems to be demonstrated on the stand will be the performance and energy savings from Atlas Copco's VSD compressor range, including the redesigned, smallest oil-injected screw compressor range - the GA 5-11/GA 5-15 VSD. The product of advanced development techniques, this latest range offers a host of innovative features: a new-generation compression element, up to eight per cent increase in air delivery, energy savings, noise-levels as low as 60dB(A) and a new Elektronikon controller to optimise performance.

Energy-saving services and resources

Other attractions on the stand will be Atlas Copco's free AIRScan Health Check service, a highly accurate, independent airnet survey report system that pinpoints any energy drains, and the AIRConnect automated 24/7 Internet-based remote monitoring system for multiple stationary compressor installations; AIRConnect monitors, measures and manages an entire compressed air network to help improve productivity.

To help compressed air system users fight rising cost, visitors to the stand can also receive a free, completely revised and updated edition of Atlas Copco's Compressed Air Manual or its energy-savings CD, the Definitive Guide to Compressed Air Energy Savings. The manual and CD are said to present all that a company needs to know about variable-speed drive compressors, electronic controllers, leak detection and control, AIRScan surveys, air management surveys, money-saving preventative maintenance programmes, and much more - such as compressor sizing, energy recovery methods and air treatment, where considerable energy savings can be made with today's ultra-efficient air dryers.
