Lee Spring will be on stand P42 at Southern Manufacturing (15/16 February 2012) to meet engineers and showcase new metric springs that bring the company's total stock range to around 19,000 spring product types.

The two new Metric lines feature over 350 metric REDUX wave spring designs in 17-7 stainless steel and over 750 metric torsion springs, in a choice of either zinc-plated music wire or passivated 302/304 stainless steel. Lee Spring has expanded its existing ranges of metric compression and extension springs with designs that meet the physical parameters of the European compression spring standard (DIN 2098) and the European extension spring standard (DIN 2097). These additions are available in a choice of either zinc-plated music wire or passivated 302/304 stainless steel, with the exception of compression wire sizes from 0.10mm to 0.40mm, which are only available in stainless steel.
Aside from the 'metric vs imperial' debate, size is of concern to customers for other reasons. As assemblies continue to get smaller, so does the requirement for products that work within reduced spatial parameters. Wave springs occupy 30-50 per cent of the compressed height space of comparable round wire springs, offering equal deflection with the same load specifications. Belleville washers (disc springs) are designed to support high loads with relatively small deflections and solid heights.
