Segmented elastomeric spiders cut cost of shaft couplings

KTR is introducing segmented elastomeric spiders for its larger Rotex torsionally-compliant shaft couplings. Compared with large, single-piece spiders, the two-tooth segments are cheaper to manufacture and replace.

Supplied as part of the new Rotex DZ range of couplings, in sizes from Rotex 100 to Rotex 180, the segmented spiders are available in shore hardnesses of 92Sh-A and 95Sh-A.

When used with Rotex A-H shell hubs, there is an added user benefit in that it is no longer necessary to move both the driving and driven sides of the coupling, as the segments can be replaced by moving only one end of the coupling.
