Self-clinching, self-aligning bearings used on luxury lid

The Mercedes Benz Maybach, thought by many people to be the World's most luxurious saloon car, is manufactured by DaimlerChrysler. Even the smallest detail gets close attention, such as the centre console lid that needed compact, high-quality bearings.

Spyraflo's answer was self-clinching, self-aligning Delrin bearings. Through its German distributor, Spyraflo is supplying 2mm FSD-2M bearings that are securely installed into the sheet-steel frame that forms the console latch. They lend themselves well to the Maybach application, taking up very little space, while the self-aligning capability ensures the mechanism works as flawlessly as an owner of such a magnificent motorcar would expect.

In the Maybach manufacturing facility in Sindelfingen, Germany, over 300 highly skilled DaimlerChrysler craftsmen produce about five Maybachs each day. At least four weeks of masterful craftsmanship is required to produce a single vehicle, each one unique and. Prices for the wonderful Maybach can reach £200,000.

Micromech is the UK and Eire distributor of Spyraflo bearings. If you would like more information or perhaps a sample, then contact the Micromech sales team.
