Semi-rugged notebook is powerful and energy-efficient
Kontron is introducing the Kontron NotePAC Semi, a semi-rugged business notebook with the powerful yet energy-efficient Intel Centrino Duo Processor.
The Kontron NotePAC Semi encapsulates the latest 2 x 2.0GHz Intel Core2 Duo T7200 processor, 667MHz FSB and up to 2GB DDR-RAM, in a solid and tough magnesium alloy chassis. This makes the Kontron NotePAC Semi an excellent mobile office system for professionals in sales, service and maintenance who require notebook ergonomics, desktop performance and connectivity combined with extended reliability and a lifetime far beyond that of conventional notebooks.

Furthermore, companies using a large number of mobile computers for their corporate and field employees will save on total cost-of-ownership by using a semi-rugged notebook instead of a conventional one due to reduced hardware maintenance costs.
Built-in safety
The Kontron NotePAC Semi offers a comprehensive set of safety features for reliable use in the office, car or in harsh field conditions. The full metal chassis, shock-mounted LCD, 120GB HDD with g-sensor to avoid head crashes and the waterproof keyboard provide protection against everyday drops, knocks, bangs and splashes.
Graphics are provided by the directX 9.0c Vista Aero-compliant Intel 945GM with up to 128MB shared video memory. An optional fast PCI Express Graphics ATI Radeon X1450 Mobility GPU with 256MB VRAM accelerates multimedia and 3D graphics performance and frees up RAM. Kontron's sunlight-readable display option for the Kontron NotePAC Semi doubles the brightness of the vibrant 14.1inch WXGA (1280 x 800) display. The display can also be equipped with a resistive touch-screen, including an integrated stylus pen for easy and convenient operation. In combination with the optional internal GPS, the Kontron NotePAC Semi can even be used for navigation.
The Kontron NotePAC Semi features on-the-spot wireless communication with GSM, GPRS, UMTS (HSDPA/EVDO), Bluetooth V2.0 class 2 and WLAN 802.11a/b/g. 1x 10/100/1000 Ethernet, 3x USB 2.0, Firewire, internal 56k modem, 1 x COM and VGA complete the feature set. Equipped with a 1.3 mega pixel webcam and microphone array with hardware-supported noise reduction, the Kontron NotePAC Semi is suitable for video conferencing. The media bay holds a dual CD/DVD-RW drive. Alternatively, it can be fitted with a secondary HDD or an additional 3700mAh battery to extend the Kontron NotePAC Semi's impressive battery operation time from five hours with a single nine-cell battery to eight hours.
A docking port for the office docking station, 1x PC Card Slot, 1x Express Card Slot and a four-in-one card reader (MS, MS PRO, SD, MMC) add to the versatility of the Kontron NotePAC Semi. Data protection is ensured by the fingerprint sensor for biometric user identification as well as a smart card reader.
The durable Kontron NotePAC Semi is now available with Windows XP or Windows Vista.
