Siemens UK & Ireland is launching the Siplus CMS1200 Condition Monitoring System (CMS) for monitoring mechanical components. With Siplus CMS1200, an expansion module for the existing S7-1200 controller, users can create an efficient monitoring system by combining up to seven SM 1281 modules with a maximum of four vibration acceleration sensors and one speed measurement sensor.
This system can be used for predictive maintenance with a number of mechanical parts; it detects significant changes caused by wear, which enables maintenance activities to be planned in advance to avoid more significant problems.
By means of the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal engineering framework, the Siplus CMS1200 Condition Monitoring System is readily integrated into an automation group containing Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices, controls and motion control components. The recorded signals are easily evaluated with the CMS analytical software on the SM 1281 modules, or archived with a time stamp in the 800MB memory for further analysis. Trend values, raw data, frequency ranges and messages can be recorded.
Paul Hingley, Business Manager - Data Services, CMR Cloud and Plant Security Services at Siemens UK & Ireland comments: "Siemens UK & Ireland recognises that predictive maintenance has many commercial benefits, including better planning, reduced downtime and subsequent cost savings. This is why we have expanded our portfolio of monitoring software, which will allow manufacturers to take a strategic approach to their maintenance systems. Our ongoing investment in Siplus CMS1200, and our wider condition monitoring portfolio, demonstrates our commitment to helping manufacturers thrive now, and in the future."
