Rexroth's innovative Silenceplus hydraulic gear pump has been highly commended at the 11th annual John Connell Awards, which are run by the Noise Abatement Society. Known to many people as the 'Noise Oscars', the awards promote innovative ideas that have an impact on the reduction of excessive noise in industry and the community.
The winning Silenceplus hydraulic gear pump features new-generation technology to reduce noise levels by an average of 15dB(A) in comparison to conventional gear pumps. It is also characterised by a lower-frequency sound that is more comfortable for machine operators. This provides cost savings through the elimination of secondary noise reduction measures. The Silenceplus pump is suitable for use in applications with electric motor drives - such as in fork lift trucks, lift platforms or industrial power units - and is compatible with all other Rexroth external gear pumps for ease of retrofit.
Mark Simpson, the Divisional Manager for Mobile Applications at Bosch Rexroth, said: "We are exceptionally proud to have been recognised at the John Connell Awards and of the continued success of the Silenceplus pump. By using the Silenceplus our customers can meet legally prescribed noise limits, whilst the Rexroth name ensures high efficiency and a long service life."
The awards are named in honour of the Society's founder, John Connell OBE, who successfully lobbied the Noise Abatement Act through Parliament in 1960 when noise became a statutory nuisance for the first time in the UK.
