Simatic PC DiagMonitor Version 4.0 also monitors Flash media

Siemens Industry Automation Division is adding new functions to its Simatic PC DiagMonitor diagnostics and alarm software for industrial PCs. The new Version 4.0 of this software now also monitors Simatic PC Compact Flash memory media. The new "Web business card' notifies users via the internet browser about important information and the status of the Simatic PCs. The new Silent Installation function enables the software to be installed easily - and remotely if required - via the command line. In addition, the user interface has been redesigned in the Windows Explorer style to be even clearer and more user-friendly.

Simatic PC DiagMonitor Version 4.0 also monitors Flash media

Simatic PC DiagMonitor software diagnoses Simatic PCs in networked systems, thereby monitoring the operating states of the industrial PCs both locally and remotely and recognising any weaknesses before they cause failures. For example, it monitors the internal device temperatures of the processor, main board and chipset, as well as fan and hard disk speeds - even in RAID1 configuration. System states are visualised locally on a monitor and/or the diagnostic LEDs of the Simatic PC, and are also made available over the LAN or the integrated Web server. The diagnostic data are transmitted via OPC server or SNMP to any user software or Simatic software, such as Simatic visualisation software WinCC or WinCC flexible.

A new feature added to Version 4.0 is the permanent monitoring of the diagnostics-capable Simatic PC CompactFlash cards. A new "Web business card' notifies users via the internet browser about important information and the status of the Simatic PCs. The displayed device data include such items as the product designation, main board number, current status of the BIOS procedure and system status with "Error: yes/no'.

Signalling and alarm functions integrated into Simatic PC DiagMonitor enable service personnel to be notified automatically by means of LAN, SMS or email, thereby reducing failures and downtime and increasing productivity. Users can specify, for example, maintenance intervals and co-ordinate repair work so that the replacement of components can take place during non-productive periods. Automatic actions can be configured for fault scenarios, such as the opening of the storage manager in the case of RAID faults for the fast restoration of mirror disk operation or a restart for the controlled shutdown and restart of the computer.
