Professor Ioannides is a globally acknowledged expert in tribology and was the main developer of the ISO standard for calculations of bearing life that is used today by bearing companies across the world. The ISO standard, based on the SKF Life Theory that Ioannides worked on from 1985, was formally issued in 2006.

With this award, Stathis is continuing the great tradition of knowledge experts that has made SKF the company it is today. We are immensely pleased that he has been recognised in this way, and extremely proud to have him as part of our product development team these last 15 years."

As well as leading Product Engineering for the SKF Group, Professor Ioannides is a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, one of the most prominent and renowned universities in the world for tribology studies.
