SMC focus on Continuous Improvement at PPMA Exhibition
When SMC take up residence on stand D70 at this year's PPMA exhibition, it's not just their product range that will take centre stage. The Japanese-owned manufacturer will have around 40 mostly dynamic product display panels, highlighting the products particularly applicable to the process and packaging industries. This year, continuing the company's pattern of an additional "show-stopper' module on a particular theme, the focus will be on Continuous Improvement.
Founded in Japan in 1959 and present in the UK since 1978, SMC has remained true to its Japanese roots, and "Kaizen' is one of several lean manufacturing philosophies that underpins its own success - not just in their UK facility in Milton Keynes, but in every one of the company's 84 sales and manufacturing subsidiaries globally.
Key to stand D70 will be a display unit emphasising the products that can help any manufacturer build Continuous Improvement into its daily operations. The modular unit can be separated from the main exhibition stand and visitors to the show can request that the unit be displayed on their own premises, so that colleagues unable to visit the PPMA show can see for themselves how easy the products and Kaizen theory are to implement - and reap gains from.

Continuous Improvement simply seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and quality. "The modular unit on stand D70 looks at products and methods behind Total Productive Maintenance.
