Sorted feeding and item collection for mail order business

When a mail order business required a belt conveyor for picking items of clothing for order processing, it turned to MK for help.

The items from the individual orders, together with the shipping documents, needed to be fed to a manual workstation on a belt conveyor. The conveyor is loaded using a pocket sorting system, from which the items are discharged through a slide onto the belt conveyor. The shipping documents need to be assigned to the corresponding delivery directly from the printer ensuring that the individual orders do not get mixed up.

MK used its GUF-P 2000 belt conveyor to provide the perfect solution for this task. Thanks to its high degree of standardisation and modular design, the belt conveyor is ideally suited for flexible use in the packaging industry. A belt with transverse cleats welded on was chosen for this particular application.

As a result, a separate compartment is formed on the belt conveyor for each order, and the corresponding items are discharged into the compartment through the slide. The orders can no longer be mixed up. The delivery note for the order is printed out directly to the appropriate compartment, which ensures the documents are always matched to the correct order. The ready-picked orders are sent to a manual workstation, where they are checked again and then transferred to the packaging machine.

The solution used standard MK components to ensure delivery with inline delivery note printing for each order and that items are collected order by order.
