Southco offers standard and customised cam latches

Southco says that, unlike its commodity-minded competitors, it is rapidly gaining market share by adopting a more customer-centric innovative approach to the development of cam latches, resulting in products offering improved levels of quality, enhanced functionality, an enriched user experience and, subsequently, a growing band of loyal customers.

Global Product Manager, Jesus Albillos, explains: "Over the years, Southco has built a worldwide reputation for driving innovation in engineered access solutions and creating added value for customers with state-of -the-art technologies that seamlessly integrate into application requirements. In the case of the cam latch, we acknowledge that this specific product is fundamental to an almost infinite array of industries and applications. Nevertheless, we truly believe cam latch users deserve levels of security, functionality and choice that are equal to those designed into more sophisticated and complex access hardware - and at affordable prices.

"As such, in addition to providing off-the-shelf product options, we work closely with our customers to provide them with cam latch solutions tailored to meet individual requirements and applications. At the same time, we deliver the essential core benefits, features and functionality associated with this particular access solution. As a result of continuous cam latch development, our latest product offering includes innovative modifications and line extensions to a selection of industry-leading products already proven in the cam latch market place. Key features of our wide range of fixed grip and adjustable-grip easy-to-configure and easy-to-install cam latches include numerous hand-, key- and tool-actuation styles, a wide material choice, defined grips, one latch fits multi applications options, and an impressive range of mounting and actuation styles."

E5 fixed grip latches

One notable example of a successfully modified and enhanced line extension to a Southco cam latch which has grown in popularity over the years is exemplified in the range of Southco E5 fixed grip latches. Modifications to this highly modular and easy-to-configure line have been developed at the request of customers seeking such attributes such as intuitive push-to-close convenience, material options - such as stainless steel - and a choice of T-handle and L-handle styles.

Other enhancements to the E5 range include styling and access control options, such as hand-, tool-, and key-actuated models, and a choice of single-point and two-point latching installations to suit a variety of commercial applications. These range from light-duty use with covers and access panels in HVAC, office furniture, and industrial machinery, to storage compartments in recreational vehicles and bus, truck, or railway applications. All E5 latches, regardless of head style, include a latched/unlatched position indicator.

Electronic access controls

Southco has the capability to provide cam latch customers with all the benefits and competitive advantages of electromechanical actuation through the company's next-generation electronic access controls. By integrating Southco's technologically advanced electronic control system with a mechanical cam latch, the product attains increased security, increased convenience, system integration and improved aesthetic design. The E5, in particular, functions as an extremely effective and versatile mechanical override on electromechanical systems.

Albillos adds: "Thanks to their modular design, Southco E5 cam latches offer the most cost-effective, versatile and flexible access solutions for door and panel latching available. Our extensive choice of economical cam latch options for basic door/panel latching incorporate a wide range of styles designed to match specific frame geometrics and can be installed as retrofit to replace existing competitive latches."
