SSC Laser Cutting has invested over £100,000 in its pressbraking facility. Bystronic will install its Beyeler hydraulic press brake at the SSC plant in November 2007, dramatically increasing SSC's capacity for bending and folding laser cut components.
The Beyeler press brake has a 150 tonne capacity and can fold parts of up to 3000mm in length and 6mm in thickness. The machine operates using a PR (pressure reference) material thickness measurement system, which eliminates fold deflection. The Beyeler's five-axis back gauge allows for more intricate folding and the production of tapered folded parts, while a comprehensive tooling package works on a wider range of radii than is offered by SSC's current press brakes. The company has also purchased an automated tooling magazine for the Beyeler.
Clyde Cotterill, who operates the pressbraking machinery at SSC, is looking forward to getting his hands on the company's new piece of equipment: "The tooling magazine in particular will save me valuable time and energy. Our main concern is to produce components of the highest quality, and I think the Beyeler will deliver – it is fast and precise - what more could we want?"
The new press brake will give the company more versatility in dealing with its customers' requirements, and will be a valued addition to an already impressive line of machinery at SSC.
