Stackable linear actuators are fast and cost-competitive

SMAC Moving Coil Actuators has launched the LBL series linear actuator that is price-competitive with ball screw and high-cycle-rate air cylinders due to the no-milling, simple plate design. The LBL design features a flat printed coil and single-piece, screw-down magnets. It is equipped with SMAC's proprietary encoder and offers an expected life of over 100 million cycles.

Starting with stroke length of 25mm and 50mm, the range will extend up to 200mm. LBL series actuators generate a peak force of 60N and are extremely fast, with accelerations of over 50 'g'.

The LBL can be integrated into 'Stack' electric manifold actuators, for OEM multi-actuator stations. The SMAC Stack concept does the same thing for actuators that manifolds did for air valves. It is cost-effective for automating multiple axes with a built-in controller option via CANopen, Ethernet/IP and EtherCAT. It simplifies mounting and reduces cabling of multiple actuators. It also allows easy, quick exchange of units, which reduces down time.
