Stainless steel compression latches are vibration-resistant
FDB Panel Fittings is introducing the IP65 7-078 compression latch and its sister variant 7-079 with depth adjustable shaft; these are the latest additions to the company's range of stainless steel handles, hinges, locks and swing handles. On the 7-079 variant the cam position can be reset to accommodate different door-to-frame depths. Both items are especially well suited to applications where vibration may be a significant problem or where an unusually wide compression range is required. These situations include road vehicles, railway rolling stock, generator sets and HVAC installations.
The compression stroke of 6mm on the 7-078 (9mm on the 7-079) generates enough pressure to compress even thick gaskets and seals, while the 90-degree action and high pull-down force are capable of resisting vibrational movement that may otherwise cause doors to shake open.
FDB's 7-078 and 7-079 also feature a colour indicator to show the open/closed status. IP65 sealing against dust and water is the norm for applications with these latches - as are wet/corrosive environments where stainless steel hardware is a standard fitment.
