August Steinmeyer has appointed George Partington as its sales manager in the UK. Following the establishment of an office in the United States in 2005, this is the company's second subsidiary outside Germany.
Alexander Beck, international sales manager and co-owner of August Steinmeyer, says: "Working closely with our customers is an important factor in our success story. Apart from Germany, the UK is one of our most important markets in Europe. With the appointment of George Partington as UK sales manager, we want to make sure we provide the best possible service to our customers in the UK."
August Steinmeyer GmbH & Co KG was founded in 1920 in Albstadt, Germany, and soon established a reputation for high-quality precision measuring instruments. Today the company is best known for its ball screws and nut assemblies, which it started to produce in the 1960s.
Over the years, Steinmeyer's engineers have done some pioneering work in the development of ball screws. The early ball screws for instrument engineering and research equipment applications were required to have diameters between 5 and 16mm. The introduction of numerical controls in the machine tools sector saw the development of larger size ball screws. Today Steinmeyer offers ball screw products ranging from 3-125mm in diameter. The company's standard program of miniature ball screws has diameters of 3-16mm.
Working closely with its customers, Steinmeyer specialises in providing tailored ball screws for a wide range of applications. For instance, screw journals for standardised nuts from 16-100mm are always machined using customers' drawings. Steinmeyer's innovative nut design allows the company to meet almost all outside dimension requirements. But nuts can also be tailored to satisfy any special needs.
Ball screws and nuts play an important role in a machine's overall performance. Although a small part in the mechanism of the machine, it can cause expensive downtime and increase the cost of maintenance if not considered carefully during the original design stages of the machine. The Steinmeyer strategy is to learn as much as possible about the application in order to be able to recommend the best ball screw and nut combination.
Not only has Steinmeyer been established for a long time, but the company is constantly growing and will further expand its manufacturing facilities in Germany in 2007.
