Straton v7.3 gains graphics-based PLC configuration tools
In version 7.3 of Straton, COPALP is introducing some exciting new features and continues to enhance the product by improving existing functionality.
One of the major changes in this new version of Straton is the addition of several new tools and protocols for the RTU market, especially for the energy and water industries. Another major change is the introduction of graphics-based configuration tools for a number of well-know PLC brands.
The energy and water industries require more and more complex protocols and control applications to meet the growing demands for more information, more often. COPALP is developing a range of components for its customers in order to facilitate the integration of industry-standard protocols and applications and is simplifying the configuration process by providing end customers with easy-to-use graphical tools. In Straton 7.3, COPALP provides the IEC 60870-101 slave, the IEC 60870-104 server and the DNP3 slave protocols with full configuration support. In addition, the existing Modbus support has been extended to include Modbus Master.
COPALP takes great care with the usability of its products and in Straton 7.3 the company has introduced graphics-based configuration tools for a number of industry-standard PLCs in collaboration with the manufacturers, specifically the ADAM-5550 PLC from Advantech, the ICP-DAS WINCON and the Wago Ethernet controller 750-865.
The full list of new features implemented in Straton version 7.3 is as follows:
- Driver and configuration tool for IEC 60870-5-101 slave protocol
- Driver and configuration tool for IEC 60870-5-104 server protocol
- Driver and configuration tool for DNP3 slave protocol
- Enhanced Modbus Master stack
- Graphic configuration tool for ADAM-5550
- Graphic I/O configuration for IPC-DAS WinCon 8000 controllers
- Graphic configuration tool for WAGO 750-865 Ethernet controller
- Support for programming user-defined function blocks in the SFC language
- A 'soft' oscilloscope for viewing program variables in real time
- A runtime parameter setting tool that provides an easy-to-use
- safe method of configuring Straton applications without the need for a workbench
