Strong interest for Northern Manufacturing 2013

The eagerly awaited Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show, which takes place at Manchester's Event City on 2/3 October 2013, has generated strong interest from engineering professionals across the North. According to the organisers, the show brings together an unprecedented mix of regional firms and world-class companies under one roof, and is primed to become the essential annual event for industrial professionals from across the region.

Strong interest for Northern Manufacturing 2013

Machinery and production equipment, components, electronics and sub-contract services are just some of the areas covered by the show, which will interest visitors from the entire spectrum of the North's key manufacturing industries. Aerospace, medical technology, defence and electronics generate over 20bn annually in the North West alone, supporting 400,000 jobs.

There have been local manufacturing shows in the north before, but nothing to match the scale or ambition of Northern Manufacturing 2013. At 28,000m2, Event City is the UK's second largest exhibition facility outside London, offering an excellent venue for a show that looks set to become a landmark event for industrial professionals throughout the North. Its location close to the heart of Manchester is easily accessible from across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Following the hugely successful format of Southern Manufacturing, the show seeks to become the focal point of manufacturing technologies for the entire northern and western halves of the country, including Scotland, North Wales, northern Midlands, Eire and Northern Ireland.

Free seminar

Along with the latest hardware, there is also a comprehensive free seminar programme running over both days, offering presentations by leading industry figures. A wide-ranging programme includes a look at the most current ideas in manufacturing productivity, with examples from ten of the world's top manufacturers. Design and innovation is also an area of key importance to UK manufacturing: in The Shape of Things to Come Alistair Williamson and Andrew Hodgin from Lucid Innovation look at the methods employed to design today what customers will need tomorrow. A second session will look at how good design can drive international competitiveness, which is an increasingly important area for UK manufacturers. Sergey Putintsev from TUV Rheinland looks at how to approach emerging markets in the BRIC countries and Middle East.

Paul Bywater and Steve Rollisson from Sanderson ERP Software take a look at how Lean principles can be applied to improve the productivity of back-office operations. Steve Ingram of Trumpf will take a look at the latest innovations in high-power laser welding. Detailed information about the seminar programme and how to book free places is available at www.industrynorth.co.uk.

Admission to Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2013 is totally free to business visitors, and Event City offers 3000 free on-site car parking spaces, with easy access by road, rail or air.
