Structural carbon profiles and aluminium extrusions on short lead times

Motion Control Products (MCP) now offers structural profile systems from Alusic in Italy, offering various advantages comparing with traditional construction materials as steel.

MCP says the CarboSix range is unique in the marketplace, being the only structural carbon profiles in the world. Carbon is the new frontier of materials, and with CarboSix it becomes the solution to key applications.

The CarboSix range of pultruded carbon fibre structural profiles have the important characteristics of carbon fibre: they are stable and extremely adaptable, with the composites’ giving up to a 50% weight saving on comparable aluminium and up to 70% on steel profiles. This gives advantages where weight is the main application requirement in machine building, without losing the structural strength of the machine. It allows the creation of profiles with bending mechanical properties capable of bringing considerable advantages in the automation and industrial production sector.

Also new from MCP are Alusic’s BH series and IM series – aluminium extruded profiles with slot width of 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10mm and the fixings and accessories to match, all compatible with the majority of aluminium profiles on the market. They are extruded from EN-AW 6060 primary aluminium alloy, or on request from EN-AW 6063 primary aluminium alloy.

The aluminium used is supplied as T5/T6 temper (cooled from hot working/solution heat treated and artificially aged) to ensure the long-lasting absolute stability of the material over the years.

The bars are supplied as standard with a 12μm anodising treatment, and on request, most profiles can also be supplied as mill finish. The tolerances applied when extruding the profiles follow UNI-EN 12020-2 standards.

Thanks to MCP’s fully equipped engineering workshop that includes CNC and manual milling as well as turning machines, the company’s UK-based technical engineering team can do fast prototyping or 2D/3D modelling with FDM (fused deposition modelling) technology to create new prototypes of profiles.

A huge range of accessories and components for extruded aluminium profiles or carbon fibre profiles are also available, such as profile covers, fastening T-slot, the connectors, end caps, closure strips, fasteners, internal and external joints, bases, wheels, hinges, handles and so forth to meet market needs with quick lead time and deliveries.

The applications for Alusic machine profile extrusion are wide ranging, from light carpentry to automation, as well as conveyor belts, workstations, linear stages, linear actuators, safety fences and more.
