Pilz is launching a range of extra-thin Type 2 and Type 4 PSENopt slim safety light curtains for finger and hand detection, suitable for applications requiring Performance Levels c and e (PLc and PLe), respectively, according to IEC 61496-2 (EN 61496-2).
The new PSENopt slim light guards are very useful for machines where space is at a premium and intervention is required as part of each cycle, such as insertion work, or the infeed and outfeed of material, for example. Thanks to the cascading function with no dead zones, they provide effective protection against encroachment into and behind the protected area.
Using the LED display, operators can identify at a glance the main causes responsible for the machine stop, meaning that machine availability can be maximised.
PSENopt slim light curtains can be installed quickly and simply using fitting aids. A comprehensive range of accessories is also available, including deviating mirrors and test rods.
A broad choice of unit types covers various applications: machine designers can select Type 2 or Type 4 light grids in accordance with EN/IEC 61496-1/-2, as well as corresponding types for finger and hand protection. Protected field heights range from 150 to 1200mm.
PSENopt slim devices can be used in conjunction with Pilz PNOZsigma safety relays or the PNOZmulti configurable control systems, for example, to create a complete, economical machinery safety system.
