Supercharging the electrification revolution

One company is adding an xtra charge to advances being made around e-mobility and beyond

Supercharging the electrification revolution

Phoenix Contact is now bundling its wide range of coordinated charging technology components for both the electrification of vehicles and setting up powerful charging infrastructure under the name Charx.

All Charx products have been specially designed for use in e-mobility applications and are classified according to their function in the charging process: In addition to the Charx connect charging cables and charging sockets, the Charx control controllers and the Charx manage software, the portfolio has recently been extended by the Charx power DC power electronics and the Charx protect surge protection.

Charx contact DC power contactors will also follow next year. Offering numerous standard products, such as energy meters, power supplies, touch panels, and industrial connection and communication technology, a nearly-complete portfolio has been created, says the company, enabling quick, safe, and convenient AC and DC charging of electric vehicles.

"With our broad Charx portfolio and extensive application expertise, Phoenix Contact provides technologically-leading solutions for manufacturers of vehicles and charging infrastructure. For more than 10 years, the company has been developing pioneering e-mobility charging technology," states the company.

"Thanks to the global proximity to our customers and our active collaboration in standardisation committees and networks, trends and demands are identified at an early stage and transformed into technical solutions. The Combined Charging System (CCS) and technologies such as High Power Charging (HPC) have already set standards that help make e-mobility more practical."
