Regal Beloit is promoting the SyMAX series of permanent magnet motors, which incorporates a radial flux design which delivers significantly higher torque, higher efficiency and increased power density when compared with traditional induction motors. They have the potential to eliminate drive belts, chains and gearboxes in certain applications.
SyMAX FHP (fractional horsepower) motors are built to a totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) or totally enclosed non-ventilated design; they are also lighter and more compact than conventional induction motors. IP54 rated, they are suitable for industrial applications that require protection against the entry of dust, the occasional water splash and exposure to other contaminants.
A very high torque-to-inertia ratio creates a high dynamic response and gives consistent and repeatable machine performance. A special feature is the patented MAX GUARD insulation system which combines corona resistant magnet wire and a low stress winding configuration to deliver long, dependable motor life.
The SyMAX FHP's neo rare earth magnets are fully encased and provide high energy efficiency. For ease of installation the FHP is designed as a drop-in replacement for equivalent induction motors. Other notable features include rolled-steel construction, constant torque or constant speed operation, a choice of integrated control, separate control and/or motor-only construction, 60Hz three-phase input, 5000 RPM output, options for feedback sensor, and UL and cUL approval.
