Telonic Instruments sponsors California girls' soccer team
Telonic Instruments is sponsoring a local girls' football team. The team is based in the California area of Wokingham and was formed in 1975 when a group of parents decided to create a team for under-eights. From this innocuous start the club has expanded to provide football for all ages, and has become one of the largest in the area. In 2000 a girls' soccer team was introduced. The club was the first Berks and Bucks affiliated club in the area to be awarded FA Charter status, and is currently a FA Charter development club.
In 2006 it was awarded a large grant to enable the club to develop 15 acres of reclaimed land and construct superior playing fields and facilities at the current site at Fox Lane, Eversley.
The club operates a structured progression for youth players from the under-7s to under-18s, providing soccer coaching and matches for all abilities.
Doug Lovell, Telonic's Sales and Marketing director, comments: "This year with the Olympics there is a much more awareness of girls' soccer teams, and with several members of our longstanding staff being involved, it would be good to support them and the girls and do something different. We provide the full clothing kit and will continue to sponsor them for the foreseeable future."
