Gefran's new GFX4 and GXFTERM04 multi-channel temperature controllers provide precise and rapid control for up to four temperature zones and provide inputs for four additional analogue signals. The range includes several fieldbus communication options and advanced diagnostics for demanding process automation applications - such as packaging, wrapping and welding machinery.
Available in a choice of PID control versions or with additional integrated relays and provision for current transformers and fuses, the ultra-compact modules are designed for fast and simple installation with configurable universal inputs, manual and autotuning functions, connections via pluggable connectors, and DIN rail mounting.
The GFX4 version includes four PID controllers and four solid-state relays with durable anti-parallel double SCR technology mounted on a ventilated heatsink. An all-on-board option offering considerable space-saving and reduced assembly time includes the direct mounting of four on-board current transformers together with four extra-rapid fuses in fuse holders.
With multiple diagnostic functions available including 'loop break alarm' and 'heater break alarm', it is possible to monitor and immediately identify alarm conditions such as broken probes, lack of load voltage and even partial load failure with relay alarms and LED indicators. Users can also monitor and verify excess temperature conditions or solid-state relay short circuits.
The GXF4 is also available with a number of fieldbus communication options including RS485 Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, CanOpen and Ethernet (Modbus over TCP/IP or GDnet) with protocols for direct connection to PLCs, HMIs and industrial PCs without further converters.
The GFXTERMO4 is available as a control-only version for external connection to relays and other components via front panel screw terminals. A complete range of complementary components is available from Gefran including solid-state relays with or without heatsinks, 'hand-held' controller configuration terminals, touchscreen HMIs and simple-to-use configuration software. Measuring just 25 x 147 x 160mm, the controller may be either DIN rail or panel-mounted.
