Micro-Epsilon reports that its recently launched TIM M1 1um thermal imaging camera is rapidly becoming the preferred method for in-process temperature measurement of metals. With many more advanced features than a spot pyrometer, yet priced extremely competitively at under 3150, Micro-Epsilon says the compact TIM M1 has revolutionised the way the metal processing industry measures temperature.
Operating at the short measurement wavelength of 1um, the TIM M1 is also claimed to provide a more accurate and stable measurement over conventional thermal imaging cameras which operate at 8-14um. This is because metals exhibit a much higher emissivity at shorter wavelengths.
Whether you currently use short-wavelength pyrometers, or have tried conventional thermal imaging cameras, the new TIM M1 is said to offer a step-change improvement in temperature measurement and control of metals.
