Thermal imaging camera offers advantages for metal processing

Micro-Epsilon reports that its recently launched TIM M1 1um thermal imaging camera is rapidly becoming the preferred method for in-process temperature measurement of metals. With many more advanced features than a spot pyrometer, yet priced extremely competitively at under 3150, Micro-Epsilon says the compact TIM M1 has revolutionised the way the metal processing industry measures temperature.

Thermal imaging camera offers advantages for metal processing

Operating at the short measurement wavelength of 1um, the TIM M1 is also claimed to provide a more accurate and stable measurement over conventional thermal imaging cameras which operate at 8-14um. This is because metals exhibit a much higher emissivity at shorter wavelengths.

Whether you currently use short-wavelength pyrometers, or have tried conventional thermal imaging cameras, the new TIM M1 is said to offer a step-change improvement in temperature measurement and control of metals.

  • 1um wavelength allows more accurate and stable temperature measurement of metals
  • 1ms response of centre pixel for high-speed hot metal detection
  • High-dynamic CMOS detector with up to 764x480 pixel resolution
  • Real-time analogue output with 1ms response time
  • Full software package included and license-free
  • Software functions include: in-process control, image recording and alarm outputs, and a full SDK is included
  • Temperature ranges from 450 to 1800degC without sub-ranges!

New protective enclosure and cooling jacket

operates up to 315 °C ambient

The new Cooling Jacket Advanced provides protection for the thermal imager from hot ambient temperatures and harsh environments:

  • Air cooling up to 100degC ambient
  • Water cooling up to 315degC ambient
  • High-temperature Ethernet Cat 6, USB and sensor cables for up to 250degC
  • Optional cable cooling for up to 315degC is available
  • Exchangeable protective windows
  • Quick-release chassis for easy camera removal
