Torsionally rigid metal bellows coupling for high-speed test benches and servo drives

KSS metal bellows couplings from Jakob Antriebstechnik feature a twin-wave bellows with a straight intermediate piece offers high flexibility. Thanks to tapered bushings as the shaft-hub connection, assembly is quick and secure, even with small shaft diameters and without the need for an additional key.

Torsionally rigid metal bellows coupling for high-speed test benches and servo drives

Torsionally rigid metal bellows couplings are essential components in modern high-speed test rigs. Bearings are subjected to endurance tests under realistic conditions to analyse the effect of different lubricants on their sliding properties.

To ensure these tests deliver precise results, the test rig must meet the highest design requirements. The drive, in particular, requires reliable components: in addition to a bearing system free of lateral forces, the coupling plays a crucial role.

The requirements are clearly defined: absolute torsional rigidity, good damping properties, and precise, virtually forceless compensation of shaft misalignment. This is precisely where metal bellows couplings demonstrate their strengths. The thin-walled bellows reliably compensate for misalignment errors while simultaneously dampening vibrations - a major advantage in continuous operation at high speeds.

The rotationally symmetrical design of the KSS couplings ensures excellent dynamic performance, even at very high speeds. With their high torsional rigidity, minimal restoring forces, and low moment of inertia, KSS couplings meet the most stringent requirements. They are available in torque ranges from 25 to 2500 Nm.

The combination of the highest manufacturing quality and durable materials makes these couplings a reliable and cost-effective solution - not only in high-speed test benches, but also in servo and actuator drives.
